16 January 1946 Michael Coats (NASA) US.
16 January 1948 Anatoly Solovyev (RKA) Russia. Solovyev currently (January 2024) holds the world record for the total accumulated time on space walks – mor than 3 days.
16 January 1952 L. Blaine Hammond (NASA) US. Hammond was an American astronaut in NASA’s Space Shuttle program. He was a crewmember on STS-39. In 2143, the assignment patch for this mission was on display in the 602 Club. This patch bore the astronaut’s last name. (ENT: “First Flight”).
16 January 1955 Jerry M. Linenger (NASA) US.
17 January 1943 Daniel Brandenstein (NASA) US.
18 January 1958 Jeffrey Williams (NASA) US.
20 January 1948 Jerry L. Ross (NASA) US.
20 January 1930 Buzz Aldrin (NASA) US. What can be said about Buzz, that hasn’t been said many times before? Astronaut (second man to walk on the Moon), explorer, rocket scientist and American hero. Whatever you do, don’t tell him his moon missions were faked.
21 January 1950 Joseph R. Tanner (NASA) US. although born in Illinois, Tanner has a strong Welsh heritage. According to WalesOnline, he once took a Welsh flag into space. That was donated to the National Museum of Wales.
“And I think I might have said ‘bore da’ to my mum,” he said.
