Follow for a weekly list of forthcoming astronaut* birthdays.
Maybe you share a birthday?!
If not, perhaps it will be you who adds your name to the list?!
If you do share a birthday, what does it mean to you?
Do you feel a connection, pride? They take to the skies (on controlled explosions) to improve the world, to explore (to travel to strange new worlds).

14 August 1952 Mark C. Lee (NASA) US
14 August 1969 Tracy Caldwell Dyson (NASA) US. One of supercluster.com’s amazing feature is that it informs you if the astronaut is currently in space when you go to their page. Dyson is currently in space (spot the ‘IN SPACE’ gif above her name):

Dyson, currently on her second long-duration mission to the International Space Station, is a flight engineer and member of the Expedition 70/71 crew. It is her third space mission overall. She launched on the Roscosmos Soyuz MS-25 spacecraft on 25 March 2024.
It’s currently, 28 July 2024 as I write this blog, busy in low earth orbit, with nine astronauts packed on board the ISS and three taikonauts aboard the Tiangong.
Dyson’s activity on board the ISS include maintenance tasks inside the United States Tranquillity module, reviewing medical emergency procedures, installing a vacuum jumper for the major air constituent analyser include the US Destiny module, working inside the US Harmony module studying how microgravity affects surface tension for the gaucho lung investigation and prepping two extravehicular activity (EVA) mobility units (EMU) space suits for two (reduced from three) US spacewalks. EVA 90 was due on 13 June 2024 and was rescheduled to 24 June 2024, where the EVA was cut short due to a spacesuit cooling unit water leak.
Just an example of a busy couple of weeks during mankind’s continuing exploration of space – the mundane, the leading edge scientific experiments and the dangerous.

PS: I love coffee. BuyMeACoffee, leave a message with a date and time and we can share it, remotely, at the same time, and think about the Cosmos.
In the meantime, take care of yourself and if you can, someone else, too, because as Adam Smith said, “we naturally desire not only to be loved but to be lovely”.
Remember, hope lives here.
