5 June 1956 Richard Searfoss (NASA) US.

6 June 1932 David Scott (NASA) US. To further add to the fact that astronauts are only human, Scott (and the other members of Apollo 15) were involved in the 1972 NASA scandal of the postal covers incident. Maybe showing a bit of poor judgement with their decisions here – but who knows.

6 June 1956 Jay C. Buckey (NASA) US.

8 June 1937 Bruce McCandless (NASA) US. McCandless was the first astronaut to perform an untethered spacewalk (or Extravehicular activity – EVA) and he described the experience:

“I was grossly over-trained. I was just anxious to get out there and fly. I felt very comfortable … It got so cold my teeth were chattering and I was shivering, but that was a very minor thing. … I’d been told of the quiet vacuum you experience in space, but with three radio links saying, ‘How’s your oxygen holding out?’, ‘Stay away from the engines!’ and ‘When’s my turn?’, it wasn’t that peaceful … It was a wonderful feeling, a mix of personal elation and professional pride: it had taken many years to get to that point.”
