“Happy birthday, Mr Feynman.” (This is a year of Feynman – week 12a of 52)

– Richard P. Feynman (11 May 1918 – 15 Feb 1988)

From the Manhattan Project to the Challenger investigation, the physicist and Nobel Laureate Richard Feynman loved to shoot down what he called “lousy ideas.” Today, the world is awash in lousy ideas — so maybe it’s time to get some more Feynman in our lives?

A little extra post, sneaking in between his Nobel Prize blogs.

Today would have marked the 106th birthday of the legendary physicist, science communicator and Nobel Prize laureate Richard Feynman.

Feynman made significant contributions to the fields of quantum mechanics, particle physics, and statistical mechanics.

Feynman received the 1965 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on quantum electrodynamics, including the introduction of the famous Feynman diagram.

Not a Nobel Prize related gag, just a quip from RFP:

“I was delighted too when I heard about the Nobel Prize, thinking as you did that my bongo playing was at last recognised.”

More about Feynman’s Nobel Prize win to follow.

PS: I love coffee. BuyMeACoffee, leave a message with a date and time and we can share it, remotely, at the same time, and think about the Cosmos.

In the meantime, take care of yourself and if you can, someone else, too, because as Adam Smith said, “we naturally desire not only to be loved but to be lovely”.

Remember, hope lives here.
