Who doesn’t love the concept of a space elevator?!
Simple and cheap access to space – and eco-friendly.
Once built its self-sustaining. Once the investment is made, everything else is free (or virtually)!

Interest in space elevators is growing – see this article from 2021 and this opinion piece from Scientific American.
The British Interplanetary Society invited Peter Swan and Jerry Eddy from the International Space Elevator Consortium, to their first in-person and hybrid virtual Evening Lecture since Covid restrictions began, in October 2021, to talk about advances that are enabling the engineering behind space elevators to become a reality.

… and all this information on space elevators is held in the library of the National Space Society.
.. and this YouTube video from Real Engineering that gives a rapid maths and engineering tour de force on tensile strengths, and gravity, and centrifugal force – mind-blowing!
As described in the video, there are a whole host of engineering and practical challenges associated with the concept of space elevators – but just think of the opportunities!
Maybe the Fountains of Paradise are closer than we think?

An amazing concept. Standing on the shoulders of giants – Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Yuri Artsutanov, Sky-Hook’s John D. Isaacs, Allyn C. Vine Hugh Bradner and George E. Bach, and Arthur C. Clarke – and many others.
